Though quartz is the second most abundant mineral that exists in the earth’s continental crust. Natural citrines are rare, most commercial citrines are heat-treated amethysts or smoky quartzes, and they are very similar to yellow topaz stones except for the hardness. Natural Citrines are found mostly in Brazil, Bolivia, and Madagascar.

The name "Citrine" comes from the Latin word "citrus" which means "lemon". The stone is believed to have many powers including helping to increase self-esteem, bringing success and good luck, prosperity, and calming the mind. It is also used in Feng Shui.
